1 Editing Blog: Improving the audio

Image
The first thing that I did was import all of the scenes that I filmed. I went through all of them and started to delete the unnecessary ones.  I had to cut and trim the videos. I then put them in a particular order. The hardest part was ensuring that I had the correct duration. Some scenes that I filmed did not make the final cuts. However,  it was better to have more videos than not having enough. Even though I had created a vision that I wanted to depict, it still came out pretty well. In the second scene, there is an interaction between the actresses; the dialogue was lower in this clip. Here, I had raised the volume on that clip because of their soft voices. In the middle and at the end there are scenes of the product. I muted each scene and placed a voiceover, explaining the product in brief detail. I had to rerecord the voiceovers a few times because they were too lengthy or they did not fit my standard. After I listened to the voiceover's they were very loud which...

1 Filming Blog : Hair Salon

Image
On Sunday, I filmed with my two of my friends. As the director, I told them everything that they needed to do. I gave them directions on where to stand, how to act, and overall the entire rundown of how I wanted to film the commercial. I brought the main prop that was used for filming. In the first scene, I used a tilt to show the model's distress, trying to find a good picture. I had to reshoot that scene a few times because my actress still was getting used to being on camera. In the beginning scenes, I had to make sure that both actresses' interaction wasn't awkward. I to film the shots and angles that went along with the set. I had to make sure that I filmed those scenes quickly because the sky was getting grey and the lighting was getting dull. I then went to the primary location, the hair salon. Here we shot the rest of the commercial. When I first started filming everything went smoothly. Then, a while later, a few clients came in to get their hair done. I had to pa...

Planning Storyboard for my TRESemmé Commercial

Image
First scene  I will film the model on her phone, trying to take a decent picture. However, she can't because her hair is not up to par. The location is in the community on the sidewalk. The scene will be a medium shot along with a low angle.   Second scene   In the second scene, the stylist will approach the model and ask her if she needs help with her hair.  Third scene  They transport to the hair salon. Here is the model, which doubts the capability of the stylist. They are both looking in the mirror when the stylist reveals the product to the model. The stylist will tell the model that this product will solve all of her problems. The model shows her concern; however, the stylist ensures that everything will be alright. The scene will be an over the shoulder shot.  Fourth Scene  Next, the stylist takes the model to the sink and washes the model's hair. A high angle will be used.  Fifth scene The model transformation is complete. The stylis...

Research Blog: Commercial Conventions

Image
I will be creating a TRESemmé shampoo commercial. I chose this product because I have been working at a hair salon for a few years. I wanted to incorporate haircare into my commercial because it is something that I am interested in.  In these commercials, you will typically see people with long, voluminous hair. They are usually in the bathroom, washing their hair with the product. Sometimes they may be at a hair salon having their stylist wash it for them. They flaunt their hair everywhere they go. This shows how the product has made their hair become an essential part of their life. The women are usually happy and charismatic. The costumes used are robes, business attire, casual attire, or semi-formal attire, depending on the scene portrayed. The props include but are not limited to bushes, salon chairs, flat iron, blow dryer shampoo, a mirror, etc. The model's hair appears to be clean and silky. There are always a few shots of the product with an explanation of the main in...
