Day 1 of Editing


 Welcome back to my blog. Today is my first day of editing. I decided to use Imovie because I have ran into too many problems with a final cut pro in the past. I imported all of the clips that we have previously filmed in the application. Then I took the establishing shot of the neighborhood and cut it into seven parts. I minimized them to 2.5 seconds each. I froze the second clip. Then I added the title of our film "Life for Life: A Losing Game."  The title is bold with a "spilt"' transition. I muted all of the seven clips and added each actor's name. The next clip is of Akiel walking. I think I need to find a suitable instrumental to go along with it.  I have to find an instrumental that we can use because I doubt we are going to be able to use the DMX song. Recently, DMX has been hospitalized and his team emailing us back is the last thing on their mind. I have done some research about the instruments that I will use. I may use an instrumental with a dark/ heavy beat. I think that will suit the theme that our group is trying to portray. Tomorrow my group is going to film. Hopefully, this is our last day and I can finish the editing and send it to them for some feedback. I have some ideas that I do not know if it will go through. Maybe I should add heavy transitions on certain clips to improve the quality or just leave it the way it is.

Critical Reflection Questions

  Creative Critical Reflection 1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?   My product utilized several types of conventions that are commonly seen in hair commercials. The conventions that were used enhanced the audience's engagement with the commercial. I used bright lights in the hair salon to keep a happy interface amongst the video. The convection of the model using the product on her hair was portrayed. The main convention of the model going from frizzy hair to voluminous hair was conveyed through the transformation at the end. I used a score throughout the video that was bright and insinuated a happy mood. The convention challenged was the credibility of the hairstylist. In the average commercial, they utilize a well-known celebrity stylist endorsing the product.
