The Sittin' Up in My Room music video starts with a zoom of a stereo. It then dissolves to the group of people gathered around in a house party. They are listening to the music coming from the stereo. Everyone is dressed up in 90s clothing such as leather pants, fitted shirts, halter tops, and platform shoes. Once the song starts it cuts to Brandy laying in her bed thinking about a boy that she has a crush on. There are different shots of her singing the song in the same area. She does different activities such as painting her nails and watching TV. She does this to take her mind off of her crush but is unable to. It jumps to different clips of couples in love. The clips are from the film Waiting to Exhale. Lela Rochon and her significant other in the movie are together in the clips. They show them doing what couples usually go do. They are argue, fight, makeup, breakup. The clips then dissolved to Brandy dancing in her mirror. The choreography was created to matches the theme of the song as she uses certain signals to capture the lyrics. By the time the second verse comes on Brandy has a new outfit and hair style that is more professional. She proceeds to change into different outfits to impress her crush. The breakdown of the song shows Brandy attending the house party. In the 90s house parties were popular. They were dancing and having a good time.
